Sedation Dentistry Palos Hills IL

A Complete Range of Sedation Dentistry Options to Make Your Visit ComfortableDental Sedation Palos Hills IL
With our sedation dentistry techniques, we are able to repair teeth, restore gums, and brighten smiles all in one visit! Sedation dentistry allows Dr. Tisoncik to correct years of dental problems in as few appointments as possible. Ask us if you are a candidate for sedation dentistry today! We are excited to offer several solutions for our patients to make their treatment comfortable. Because these medications stay in a patient's system for a few hours after the visit, there are few complaints of pain after procedures are completed.

Sedation dentistry techniques allow patients who might otherwise avoid the dentist to get the dental treatment necessary for a healthy smile. Depending on the level of anxiety or phobia, varying degrees of dental sedation can be used. Most patients can't remember their treatment. Some will remember a little, usually at the end of the appointment when we are getting them ready to go home. You will need someone to drop you off at our office on the day of your sedation appointment and you MUST have someone take you home afterward. For your safety, we use special equipment to monitor your pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen level throughout your treatment. You’ll be done before you know it, completely unaware of the time passing, and fully relaxed.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” may be given to eliminate fear and make a patient feel comfortable with treatment. It is administered through a mask and you breathe in the medication. Local anesthetic is also given to relieve any pain.

Oral Sedatives
Depending on the level of anxiety a patient has, medication will be taken the evening before or only 30 – 60 minutes before the appointment. Oral sedatives do not give relief from pain, so a shot of anesthesia will also be given.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation
With this type of sedation, a small needle is inserted in your arm or hand for the medication to enter your system. As with oral sedatives, a local anesthetic is also given for pain relief. The advantage of having an IV is that more medication can be given and monitored for deeper sedation, and the effect is immediate. With intravenous sedation, it will be like sleeping through the entire treatment.

Dr. Tisoncik has received advanced training for IV sedation and is certified through the University of Southern California anesthesiology program.
